The Calling of the Fellowship
THis is an email I wrote to our friends when the process began about 6 weeks ago....

Dear friends old and new, near and far...
As most of you know, (and have reminded me on multiple occasions), Brenda and I
have been dating for 3 years, 3 months and 2 days. The journey has definitely
had its ups and downs, many uncertainties, but an abundance of blessings, and we
owe that to 1. Grace and 2. in no small part, the body of Christ, our
communities, friends and family. Thank you for walking this journey with us
through your presence, your prayers, your accountability and your love.
And in keeping with the LOTR theme, as Gandalf would say "One stage of your
journey is over, another begins." God has been showing me over the years
how the puzzle fits together in terms of Brenda and Pat. I think that the pieces
of the puzzle is finally fitting into place. Praise God for his wisdom and his
mercy!
I am feeling more affirmed in my decision to get down to business-- the business
of THE RING.
So to business now! As our relationship has been brought up and nurtured in
community, I think it is only appropriate to culminate in a comminuty effort.
Also-- I am a lame-o when it comes to this stuff and I need help! So I am asking
you to join in "The fellowship" in some specific ways
1. Pray for this month. Pray that I would continue to have a great relationship
with my parents as we work out some more details, and be a good son to them.
Pray for an extra measure of patience, as I'm really excited to move on. Pray
also that God would really enrich my time with the Lord this month so I can keep
a clear head. Pray against a spirit of fear and anxiety to what he is calling me
towards.
